Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Summit Autism Center uses the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior (VB) to design effective treatment programs for our clients.   ABA has been recognized by Federal and State Agencies as a safe and effective treatment for children with autism and related disabilities.

Each client is assigned to a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who will complete an initial assessment and create an individualized treatment plan.  Direct therapy will be provided by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Behavior Technician under direct BCBA supervision.  Clients participate in 1:1 therapy sessions focusing on teaching communication skills, play and social skills, and daily routines using ABA/VB. Children spend most of their instructional time working on language and communication goals, but also participate in small group activities to help increase play/social skills and communication.

Assessments

Summit Autism Center uses a variety of assessment to determine a student’s needs within our program.

  • Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R)
  • Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)
  • Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS)
  • Essentials for Living
  • Brigance Diagnostic- Comprehensive Inventory of Basic Skills-Revised
  • Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale (Vineland-3)
  • Socially Savvy
  • PDD Behavior Inventory (PDDBI)

Data Collection

Summit Autism Center utilizes a HIPAA compliant data collection tool to collect data, graph progress and analyze data.

Parent training

BCBA’s offer parent training to assist parents in how to implement ABA at home to generalize skills from the clinic environment to home, to increase social skills and language/communication and to help decrease interfering behaviors.
